Context — Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 15, 2026
Your memories stay on your device. We do not store your photos, voice recordings or notes on our servers. We have no memory archive, no database and no cloud sync.
No account. We never ask for your name, email or phone number.
Your recording is sent only to be turned into text. The recording and the note text are sent briefly to an AI service for processing; once processing is done they are not stored on our side and are not written to our logs. Your photos are never sent.
No ads, no tracking, no selling. We do not sell your information, use it for advertising or track you across apps.
Details below.
Context is provided by an independent developer using the name Sleepy Cat Apps. This is a developer name, not a separate company. "We" in this policy means this developer. For questions and requests: [email protected]. Website: Sleepy Cat Apps.
This policy covers Context and Context Plus.
The following is kept only on your device; we cannot access it:
Your memories: photos, voice recordings, the text of your notes, AI summaries, labels and reminder dates.
Your settings: language, appearance, notification and recording preferences.
Optional location: if you turn on location tagging (off by default), the coordinates and address of where a photo was taken. Your device's own location service is used to look up the address.
With your permission, photos are saved to your phone's gallery. The note text, and the location if location tagging is on, are written into the saved photo (its EXIF data) so the photo keeps its meaning when opened in another app.
Some features work over the internet. Only what is needed is sent:
Speech-to-text and analysis (AI)
What is sent: your voice recording, the speech language you chose, the note text and the date/time (to correctly work out phrases like "tomorrow morning"). Photos and location are not sent.
Who processes it: our service running on Google's cloud infrastructure, and our AI provider OpenAI.
For how long: We do not keep this content; it is deleted once processing is done and is not written to our logs. Our logs contain only technical information without content or device identifiers.
OpenAI: Under OpenAI's policy, this data is not used to train AI models. OpenAI may retain text for up to 30 days to prevent abuse. Details: OpenAI API data controls.
App verification To protect our service from abuse, Google's and Apple's verification services check that requests come from the genuine Context app. This check does not include your notes.
Context Plus subscriptions Subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed with RevenueCat. RevenueCat processes a random user number and purchase information to know whether your subscription is active. Your payment details never reach Context; the store handles payment.
Actions you start
Sharing: When you share a memory (as a photo, an image or a .ctx file), the content goes to the app and person you choose.
Calendar and maps: Events you add are saved to your device's calendar; a location you open on a map is passed to the map app you choose.
Support: When you email us, we use your message and email address to answer your request. Error reports do not include the content of your memories.
Information is processed only to provide the features you ask for: turning your speech into text, organizing your note, setting reminders, sharing and recognizing your Plus subscription. Where applicable, these rely on performance of a contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b); KVKK Art. 5/2-c), and service security and support on legitimate interests (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f); KVKK Art. 5/2-f).
AI only helps you organize your notes; it is not used to make decisions about you. The app contains no advertising or usage analytics tools.
Camera and microphone: to take photos and record voice notes.
Photos/gallery: to save your photos to the gallery and delete them when needed.
Location: only if you turn on location tagging, used at the moment of capture; it does not track you in the background.
Calendar: only if you use the add-to-calendar feature.
Notifications: for reminders.
You can turn permissions off at any time in your device settings; this only affects the related feature.
Photos shared from the gallery may carry the note text written into them and (if on) the location.
A .ctx file contains the photo, the audio, the note and the AI summary. The photo's hidden data (EXIF) is removed in this file; location is added only if you turn on "Include location" when sharing. A .ctx file is not encrypted; the recipient can see its content.
Copies you share stay with the recipient; we cannot take them back. Check the content and the recipient before sharing.
Memories on your device remain until you delete them or uninstall the app. Photos in your gallery may remain after uninstalling.
Voice recordings: In the free version, recordings older than 15 days are deleted automatically from your device; with Plus they are kept.
Nothing from your memories is stored on our servers (see Section 3), so there is no content of yours for us to delete.
When you delete a memory in the app, its photo in the gallery is also deleted if you allow it. You can remove calendar events separately in your calendar app.
AI requests are processed on Google's and OpenAI's servers in the United States. Subscription information is processed by RevenueCat and Apple/Google; these providers may process information in the United States or other countries. Write to us to learn more about our providers and transfer safeguards.
All connections are encrypted (HTTPS). Data on your device is protected by your phone's own security (screen lock, encryption). No method is entirely risk-free, but by not keeping your data on our servers we keep the risk as low as possible.
Under applicable law (GDPR, KVKK and others) you have the right to information, access, correction, deletion, restriction of or objection to processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority. Because your memories are only on your device, you can do most of this yourself within the app. For anything else, write to [email protected]; we reply within legal deadlines. Since there are no accounts, we only ask for what we need to answer your request.
Context is a general-audience app. If the law where you live requires parental consent, children should use the app with a parent's permission. If you have concerns about your child's information, write to us.
When we update this policy we change the date above and announce important changes in the app. The policy is offered with the same content in five languages (English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish).
